In this TechPosts, I will show you how to enable Adobe Flash Player in Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer web browser. Adobe Flash Player is an extremely useful software for playing online games and watching online shows on your web browser.

Before proceeding, make sure you have downloaded and installed Adobe Flash Player on your computer. If not, download it from the official Adobe website using the above link.

Enable Adobe Flash Player in Chrome

In google chrome, you don’t have to download or install Adobe Flash Player as it comes inbuilt in chrome browser. You have to enable it if it is disabled in your chrome browser.

  • Open Google Chrome web browser and type chrome://settings/content in the address bar and hit enter. It will open the content settings screen.
  • Now click on the Flash Settings option as shown in below screenshot.



  • On the next screen, enable the Allow sites to runFlash to “enable the Flash on chrome”. Your changes will be saved automatically.



Important Tip: If you want to block or allow Adobe Flash Player for any particular site, add the site URL using Allow or Block options as shown in above screenshot.

Enabling Flash Player in Firefox

  • Open Mozilla Firefox browser, click on the menu icon ( 3-horizontal bars) located at the upper-right corner and click on Add-ons.
  • Click on the Plugins from the left sidebar, you will find Shockwave Flash plugin, which is a Flash plugin for Firefox. Now, select Always Activate from the drop-down menu to “enable Flash Player in Firefox”.



  • In future, if you want to disable Flash in Firefox, you can do so by selecting the Never Activate option.

Enable Flash Player in Microsoft Edge ( Windows 10)

Follow the instructions mentioned below to enable Flash Player in Edge browser for Windows 10 OS.

  • Open Microsoft Edge. Click on the menu icon (3-horizontal dot ) and click Settings.
  • Scroll down to the bottom and click on the View Advanced Settings.
  • Here, you will find Use Adobe Flash Player. Toggle the button to enable or disable it.


How to Enable Flash Player in Internet Explorer

  • Open any web page that has a rich media content in Internet Explorer. For ex: visit Adobe Help page in your IE browser.
  • Now, click Tools menu located at the upper right corner and select Manage add-ons. See screenshot for reference.


  • Select Toolbars and Extensions from the left sidebar, you will find Shockwave Flash Object plugin. Make sure the extension is enabled. See screenshot for reference.


  • If Shockwave Flash object is disabled, enable it by selecting it and click on Enable as shown in the screenshot above.

Some browsers are comes built in with it's own version of Flash, you are not required to install a separate plugin to enable Flash in Chrome. Follow the steps below for enabling flash on all websites you visit or specific website domains.

Windows

In the address bar, type chrome://settings/content .


On the Content settings screen, find the Flash Player listing.


In order to check the status, click on the right side.


Here you can see 'Block site from running flash' , toggle the button to turn it on.


Go back to the page with the Flash content. If it doesn't load automatically, at the top left, click Reload.

Open Firefox

Choose Firefox > Tools > Add-ons

Click the Tools option on the top-right of the screen (looks like three horizontal lines).


Select Plugins from left menu.


In the list of Add-ons, look for Shockwave Flash and check the status that appears to the right of the plug-in name.


In the list find Shockwave Flash and make sure it is set to Always Activate.


Close and Reload Chrome.

  1. Launch Internet Explorer.
  2. Click the gear icon and select Manage add-ons.
  3. Select Toolbars and Extensions.
  4. In the list find Shockwave Flash Object and make sure the Status is set to Enable.
  5. Click Close.
  6. Close and Reload Internet Explorer.

  1. Launch Safari.
  2. Click Preferences and select the Security tab.
  3. Next to Internet plug-ins, make sure Allow Plug-ins is checked.

  4. Close the Preferences window.
  5. Close and Reload Safari.
